Messy Church
We are keen to start a monthly Messy Church session, held on a weekday afternoon, aimed particularly at children and families associated with Rumboldswhyke school but open to all. This is something the school is also eager to pursue. Messy Church is a way of being church for families and others. It is Christ-centred, for all ages, and is based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. There is a time for welcome; a time for craft and activities to explore biblical themes; a time for song, story and worship in church; and a shared meal. It is meant for all ages and to nourish interaction between different generations. Messy Church is aimed at those who do not normally come to church and for people at all stages of their journey of faith.
For more information, you can go to https://www.messychurch.org.uk/what-messy-church-and-isnt. Fr Angus is eager to see if there would be any volunteers willing to help. Roles would include welcoming guests, coming up with and supervising different craft activities, helping to cook and serve a meal, helping with liturgy, storytelling and music.
Please do let Fr Angus know if you are interested. Depending on the number of volunteers available, it is hoped that the first Messy
Church could be held on Shrove Tuesday with pancakes.
